Sedella lies 62 kilometres from Malaga and 20 to 40 minutes drive from the coastal resorts of Nerja and Torre del Mar. It stands at 689 metres altitude in the foothills of Mount Maroma (7000ft) in the Sierra Tejeda mountain range. There are magnificent views of these mountains and on clear days you can also see the Atlas Mountains of Africa. Sedella Property was set up by Gary and Julie Scully who moved out to Sedella in 2004 having bought a 500 year old prison originally built by the Moors. Renovation work started straight away to create a two bedroom apartment and a four bedroom house, the project was finished in 2005. The apartment is now being rented out. Gary & Julie now live in the main house and are kept busy by renting out the apartment to people who wish to come out and enjoy the area and introducing them to the various activities.
Activities include easy walking around the local area to guided high altitude walks, skiing in the Sierra Nevada is 2hrs drive away, mountain biking, quad trekking and much more. Recently Sedella was nominated as the headquarters of the Tejeda National Park due to it's ideal location. The area is famed for its bird life from bee eaters to vultures and eagles, ibex and boar roam the higher peaks.
For the cultural Malaga, Granada and Seville are an easy drive as is the nightlife of Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella. The local beaches are a 35 min drive away in Torre del Mar. There are also water parks, a theme park with rides, a crocodile park and Selwo a marine and safari park, and much more, all within a 2hr drive.
Or just come out to relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air and lovely views, in the summer months the village 25m outdoor pool is open. |
